Foundation The association was founded in 1980 and named LPS, The Dutch association for Supervisors. On the 11th November of 1989 the associations name has changed in LVSB and now represents next to supervisors also professionals working with other methods of coaching.
Number of members
Of the almost 2200 members 1650 are certified supervisors.
Structure of the association
- General Assembly
- Board consisting of six members
- Various committees:
- Accreditation of supervisors, trainers (teaching supervisors and lecturers) and training programmes
- Court of arbitration board
- Public Relations
- LVSB-Congress, refresher training courses and workshops
- Foreign affairs
- Task groups (such as practice-teaching; supervision in organisations; fees)
- Thirteen regional groups
- Supervisor division.
The following rules are established for the supervisor division:
- A rule for registration of supervisors, trainers of supervisors and accreditation of training courses (LVSB-Registration Supervisors 2005). The standards for certification of supervisors, teaching supervisors, lecturers and training courses are laid down in this arrangement.
- Code of professional ethics (2006).
Concept of supervision
Supervision represents a specific method of training and enhancement of competence for professions and functions in which methodical acting in interactions between persons forms an important aspect of exercising the profession.
The central task of supervision is based on learning to reflect independently and of setting professional goals in realistic, concrete situations. Supervision as such spans different methodical approaches and professional fields. Its characteristic features and conditions are theoretically expressed.
Target groups of supervision
- Students with different education during practical training (training supervision).
- Executive employees and management personnel in profit and non-profit organisations (Supervision as a form of continuous training or as part of organisational development).
Training of supervisors
Number of certified training courses: 12
LVSB does not take into account existing institutions, but examines and approves their respective training courses.
Activities of the association
- Yearly general assembly.
- A congress is held every year which deals with various topics.
- Meeting of regional groups.
- Publishing of 'Forum' a newsletter with information and contributions to discussions of current interest for members. Four issues yearly since 1994.
- (Refresher) training courses and workshops for members.
Public recognition
Supervisors certified by LVSB are officially recognised by several institutes and organisations in the following countries:
